We interviewed a few folks about what pride means to them, what they want to see from pride going forward, and what they would like folks to consider before coming out to celebrate pride as allies.

Talking about sex can be tricky, particularly for those of us who are still struggling with the residual effects of shame and fear about sexuality and pleasure.  Let's look at some frameworks we can use to help ourselves and our partners talk about sex in a way that ensures that we are being consensual.

Let's get down to business and talk about predators, folks who actively seek out those who are vulnerable to abuse, in communities that are supposed to be a safe haven to explore sexuality and / or kink. 

At ASPECC we introduce ourselves with our pronouns (I am Angel, I use she/her pronouns), particularly if we are cisgender (a term that refers to identifying as the same gender you were assigned at birth.).  This podcast we are talking about our policies here, about creating a space that is safe(r) and some of the nuances around gender.

The way we view consent has changed to a view that consent should be obtained explicitly before sexual touch occurs.  Some folks have been expressing growing concern over what these changes will mean for them.  Today we are discussing the changes to consent in social norms, and the push back against those changes.

ASPECC.ca, as part of their program to destigmatize pleasure and support sexual empowerment for folks with vulvas, hosted an orgasm fundraiser.  Folks volunteered to collect pledges, and participated in various ways, from recording the sound of their orgasm to participating in the privacy booths at the gala itself. 

It was incredible.  Dozens of folks came out to support shame free pleasure, and every one was super respectful.  The event included an orientation with clear beahviour expectations laid out, so that may have helped. 

This is a LIVE show and you may hear sounds of folks having orgasms, talking about orgasms etc. 

It is always fun to find out how folks found out they were kinky, or what made them think to check it out!  Join us as we ask several people to share their stories (and some of those answers may surprise you!)

Many of us, as adults, have had to slowly figure out our own sexuality, how to talk about sex, what consent is, and how to find pleasure in our own bodies without the benefit of a comprehensive sex education program.  Tonight we are talking about how our individual upbringing and school based sex education has shaped our present sexuality, and ways we feel things could improve.

Like any community, the BDSM community has it's benefits and drawbacks.   Join the conversation as we discuss what we each have discovered in the community, the things that we treasure, and our thoughts on ways the community could improve.
